The debate over concert pitch is genuinely old — it goes back well before the wellness movement. In the 19th century, there was no single worldwide tuning: orchestras tuned anywhere from roughly 415 Hz to 452 Hz depending on the city and era. A = 440 Hz only became the international standard in 1955 (ISO 16), after decades of argument. The 432 Hz movement grew out of this history, claiming 440 was a "wrong" or even "imposed" standard.
The people who popularized 432 Hz often cite a mix of numerology and pseudo-scientific claims (e.g. "432 Hz matches the frequency of the universe" or "connects with the Earth's vibration"). These are not supported by physics or biology. Even today, some orchestras tune slightly higher (A=442 or 443) for a brighter sound. So the "432 Hz is the true one" story is a modern narrative layered over a genuinely messy history of practical compromise.
